+++ Long winter nights part II +++

 

 

So as I promissed, there´s next part of Long winter nights I spent painting miniatures.

This part is about Mechanicum project I started recently. Even though it´s 30K HH army, I´ve made them to be used beside 4th Yalden guard.

 

Painting was as easy as it could be. Khorne red as a base colour for robes, then Nuln oil and then Khorne red once more. Rest was all about metalic colours washed by Nuln oil or Reikland Fleshshade. Also those were first models on which I used Citadel Technical paints.

First of all, magos dominus Mars-born Xerxes, Thrice-blessed by Cog.
He´s ancient magos leading the Quest for Knowledge in the sub-sector. Leader of small fleet and an army of Mechanicum troops, he pledget his service for protection of Aterna Prime and, for some unknown reason, also his skills to the lord Reivan Longinius, chaptermaster of the Swords of Ultima chapter.

Eerie magos genetor Valpurga of the Mithril sect, she´s accompanying Xerxes for a few centuries now. They´ve been in Distant Stars beyond the light of astronomican, they sailed angry waves of the Ulgafish storm and she lost her legs and most of her body during the exploration of the Maftir cluster.
Now cold, logic and ever-curious, she´s constantly pushing forward her knowledge of biology, xeno-biology and skill in servitor-making.

Former transmechanic on nameless monitoring imperial station in deep space, tech-priest Manaul XII joined ranks of Xerxes after he was forced to flee the station after unsuccesful attempt to create better transmitting device.

Aur Cydonian is tech-priest bound to 4th Yalden regiment to look upon their vehicles and more sophisticated equipment. He´s serving with them for almost decade not only working on the machines, but also fighting in the first lines supporting their combat actions.

Tech-priest enginseer Ivir the Iron Sky is also bound to 72nd Armoured. Tasked by guarding the machinespirit of mighty Leman Russ tanks and the other vehicles, he works closely with Aur Cydonian and with other enginseers of the Yalden Corps.

Kappa Rho I

Kappa Rho II

 

Myrmidon cults Kappa Rho I and Kappa Rho II from personal retinue of Xerxes are mainly armed by graviton technology based weapons and so is tasked by destruction of heavy armoured troops. This battle-hungry troops of myrmidon auxilla are ofted spotted on the forefront of any attack blessed by Xerxes presence.

Kappa Rho I played crucial role in repulsion of traitor marines attack during the Siege of Aterna Prime during which they killed no less than three terminators and dozen of traitorous marines.

Kappa Rho II stormed the ancient complex of Baalraptus to deny it to the traitors. Backed by hundreds of servitors and tech-thralls, they sacrificed most of them, but succeeded in this task.

Castellax Battle-Automata Citadel is used by Xerxes as his personal bodyguard. Always close, always ready to throw himself into the fray beside his master and commander.

There´s rumor that the ghost in the shell of this automata is long-dead close associate of Xerxes.

But how can cold, feelingless and calculating mind of magos dominus clinge on something odd and almost-human as this?

+++ Long winter nights part I +++

Few updates from those long winter nights I´ve dedicated to do some painting and stuff.

First of all are those Myrmidons from Horus Heresy. Since I´m dedicated fan of John Blanche´s vision of Warhammer 40K, I love all those mechanicum models and looking forward to rumors of them to be playable in 40K as well.
Painting them was quite a pleasure. And very easy.

As I was bored by marines, I´ve decided to finish my Imperial Guard regiment. There was more than 100 models not painted or only partialy painted.
Those 102 models  on the picture are boys and girls of proud 4th Yalden regiment.
Of course there are more painted by now so I´ll make group pic today I hope.
But right now, enjoy those few (those happy few...)

Ah, my precious Faithful. Count as conscripts, those religious fanatics, veterans from the battles long gone and infirmary patients are colourful addition to otherwise dull and monochrome guard.
I really like them.
And there are more than 15 to be painted to this day.

Ogryns. Although worst option one can build from the ogryn/bullgryn box, I love them so much that there was no other eventuality for me to make them. Ogryns are one of the trademark IG models for me.
But hell, they are miserable, poor bastards who die like shit and do the same.

Griffon - Yalden Pattern. Not much to say. Few plastcard plates and bits from IG and now I´ve got nice, armoured Griffon. Mainly because the old one was too fugly and weird-looking.

Well, since I´ve got too much time apparently (and too much paint also) there are 5 chimeras and those three Leman Russes painted now (ok, also two griffons) and 5 Lemans waiting for repaint.

+++ Brother Aarim, Imperial Fists Horus Heresy project +++

Clad in a mix of MK.II armour and unknown leg type armour.
Unknown type may be aquired during recent Imperial Fists mission to Mars, since brother Aarim was wounded on this very mission.  (see mechanical replacement of his right arm)
Armour looks like upgraded MK.II with aditional armour plates, bulkier than MK.III

+++Brother Ontos+++

 

Originated from Ultramarine chapter, brother Ontos is one of the founding members of Swords of Ultima chapter.

He was a first company veteran, one of the sternguard, when he promised his old friend captain Remus, newly appointed master of a new chapter, that he´ll help him with founding of the new chapter.

He served for another hundred years as first captain, until he was struck down by daemon.  

 

Since he always was superb marksman, he retained his specialisation even after entombment into dreadnought device. Pair of assault cannons are his weapon of choice.

Right shoulder is decorated by symbol of the Swords of Ultima chapter and by brass death mask of Ontos himself.

His right shoulder bears the shield with image of his last fight with daemon on the world Drässr.

 

 

Holy words of Litany of Devotion are insciribed upon his knee

Upon leg plate, there is a symbol of Claymore strike force - white cyrcle and black lightning inside. There is also inscribed last prayer of the dying brother

Elitná pechota vychovávaná a cvičená zo sirôt na mesiaci Yaldenovej Nádeje - Tear .
Priraďovaná k regimentom na plnenie najnebezpečnejších a najnáročnejších bojových úloh. V bojových transportéroch alebo strojoch Valkýra zabezpečujú protiútoky, okamžité výsadky na posilnenie línií, bleskové obchvaty.
Taktiež vo veľkom distribuovaná po celom šírom Impériu ako súčasť Imperiálnych Úderných oddielov.
Prastaré dohody Yaldenovej Nádeje s Adeptami Administrata a Munitoria zabezpečujú, že aspoň 20% všetkých vycvičených oddielov ostane Yaldenovej Nádeji.

Ťažká pechota s najlepším možným výcvikom hneď po imperiálnych útočných komandách či
Karskinoch z Cadie. Každý jeden Granátnik je dobrovoľník zo systému Yaldenovej Nádeje a je teda aj vysoko motivovaný a indoktrinovaný.
Ich výzbroj a výstroj vychádza zo starého designu spred invázie, kedy boli všetky regimenty
Yaldenovej Nádeje vyzbrojené týmto štýlom. Dnes je táto technológia príliš nákladná pre bežné regimenty a je preto dodávaná iba elitným jednotkám.
Nebojujú ako samostatný regiment, ale sú po čatách rozdelení k pechotným a motorizovaným
regimentom Yaldenovej Nádeje, kde spolu s údernými oddielmi plnia špeciálne úlohy, vedú prekvapivé útoky, krytie krídiel a zabezpečujú mechanizovaný prieskum hlboko na území nepriateľa.
Výzbroj: laskarabína bullpup vzor Yalden (6 zásobníkov – počas bojového nasadenia výrazne navýšený
počet) / brokovnica vzor Yalden MK II, rozličné osobné pištole, bojový nôž Yalden, útočné granáty

Štandardne slúži ako štábne vozidlo na fronte, rýchly nosič správ, munície a zásob, transportér pre delá
a pre stovku iných, drobných úloh. Pre jeho rýchlosť a vysokú manévrovateľnosť v teréne ho využívajú aj
prieskumníci.

Rýchle štvorkolesové prieskumné vozidlo vyrábané výlučne na Yaldenovej nádeji. Vyzbrojené
autokanónom alebo vrhačom granátov na osobnú ochranu či náhle rýchle útoky a následný ústup.

+++Coyote combat vehicle+++

Rýchly a malý pásový prieskumník, vyrábaný na Yaldenovej nádeji. Jedno z typických vozidiel pre
pechotné regimenty Yaldenovej nádeje. Vyzbrojený dvojitým multilaserom alebo laserom.
Stroj je medzi posádkami obľúbený i napriek tomu, že je známy svojimi stiesnenými podmienkami
a mierne neohrabaným dizajnom. Ten je pozostatkom vojny na Yaldene, kedy nedostatok iných vhodných
prostriedkov donútil lojalistov k využitiu priemyselných ťahačov ako prieskumných vozidiel.
Stroje dostali nové motory a dodatočné pancierovanie a výzbroj.
Nasadzované sú ako podporné vozidlá prieskumu spolu s Líškami. Týmto zabezpečujú ako-takú
palebnú podporu a kryjú ústup.

+++Hydra Gun Emplacement+++

As now I need every Chimera and Hydras are now near-useless in normal games, my Hydras are now almost extinct. Models will be converted for Griffon or Medusa, but still I got 3 turrets.
So I´ve started with emplacements, mainly for our Apocalypse games.

There will be some metal effect by plastic web/grid and plastcard details by Evergreen.

 



+++Ferret, Varrior, Ortos, Carthan and epistolary Varus+++

Hi there, long time, no see.
   I wasn´t quite in a mood for painting and got not much time left for gaming either. For a week I was in Manchester UK, very nice city. And there I was just chillin´, gettin´in touch with reality and work.
But I´m back now. Or at least I hope so.

   Light vehicle Ferret, build on a Centaur chasis is hastly design of a recon vehicle which originated from Vanderren sector and is used by local militias, PDFs and regiments of IG. This is the anti-tank answer for recce squads. Used in ambushes, Ferret got twin-linked missile launcher and about 8 more missiles which can be fired upon side armour of passing armoured vehicle.
   This one belongs to 4th Yalden regiment.

Well, this vehicle is designed on real anti tank missile carriers as FV102 Striker or Marder (IFV). All I needed was one sleepless night, brain full of what-if-world war III  scenarios and than flash of genius. 

   Brother Varrio, now venerable dreadnought of the Swords of Ultima chapter. Once a sergeant of the preatorian squad, criticaly wounded during the raid of Gantalles. One of the oldest brothers, he remembers well the time of Silence, when whole sector was cut off from the Imperium by strong Warp Storm.  

   Brother epistolar Varus, Guardian of the threshold and the Bane of the daemon. Here he´s with jump pack and also on bike. My favorite model so far. As I´m looking forward for new codex and some sort of familiar, he´s got a raven - Orev.

  This is my female model for Void Navigator. Originaly comes with a male head, but since I´ve got almost all models male, I bought some women heads and so I used one here. I think it´s more realistic and nicer than those Raging Heroes nonsenses.
